THE REFUGEE, ASYLUM, MIGRATION AND POLICY (RAMP) PROJECT

Our vision is to have a world-class migration system which helps to create a successful and integrated UK and is fair to all.

What we do

We help politicians to think more deeply and collaborate more widely on migration, asylum and integration issues to improve the quality and quantity of political debate and subsequent policy outcomes. We do this primarily by seconding high-quality advisers into the teams of a cross-party group of politicians and by acting as the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Migration.

We value trusted, open and relational dialogue; evidenced-based debate; a diversity of opinion and experience; and broad coalitions which bring together unusual allies across different sector and parts of the political spectrum.

Working in Parliament

RAMP works with a diverse group of parliamentarians in the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Our Principals are supported by a dedicated adviser and our Associates receive more ad hoc support. We provide regular briefings to members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Migration and help them to organise a wide range of events, visits and roundtable discussions to deepen their understanding of a wide range of policy areas.

Our People

We are an independent not-for-profit organisation and have a small team to manage the project. Our board is made up of people with deep professional expertise in a wide range of relevant fields. Our advisers provide research support on each Parliamentarian’s priority areas to help them to table parliamentary questions, speak in to debates to make regular, constructive and, where possible, collaborative/cross-party contributions to political and public discussions on migration, asylum and refugee policy.
