Tim Farron MP on BBC Question Time Debate

RAMP Principal Tim Farron MP appeared on a recent episode of BBC Question Time, where he discussed the issue of Channel crossings and addressed the misinformation surrounding the UK's refugee acceptance policies. Farron pointed out that 85% of refugees settle in neighbouring countries, and the UK ranks 19th in Europe for refugees accepted per capita, with countries like France and Germany taking in significantly more.

Farron emphasised that while migration presents challenges, the focus should be on genuine refugees. He argued that the best deterrent is efficient management, urging the government to process asylum claims swiftly, admit those who qualify, and allow them to contribute to society through work. He stressed that the majority of asylum seekers from countries such as Sudan, Afghanistan, and Syria are legitimate refugees deserving of protection.
